CHEROKEE LAKE STRIPER FISHING, GUIDE REPORT

I retuned to my home lake today to do alittle scouting. I do not fish cherokee lake during the summer months due to the closed fishing zone and high mortality rates. I have been striper fishing mostly watts bar and a few other tailrace systems. Cool water from discharges makes catch and release possable year round.I set in at church house near Rogersville around 3pm. It did not take long to notice that the river was boiling with bait fish. From Melinda Ferry to Boy Scout camp it is unreal the consintrations of bait fish! Odds are not in the fishermans favor in such conditions. I saw many stripers and hybrids breaking the surface in feeding frenzies. I pulled around a umbrella rig and caught 1 striper around 10lbs. Fish are present near point 27 next to impossable to catch do to bait consintrations!!! I expect more fish to enter the river and move to these head waters to get their bellys full too. Up date other local fisherman are having success catchin striper near pt.27.I heard some good reports on 10/9/2011 It should just keep getting better!  ( Good Luck )DSCN0729
